Dmitry Mitrofanov is an assistant professor of business analytics at the Boston College Carroll School of Management. He holds a Ph.D. in Operations Management from Stern School of Business at New York University. His research bridges analytical modeling and methodological innovation with empirical and data-driven work, advancing both theory and practice. He uses tools from machine learning, optimization, econometrics, causal inference, and field experiments to study timely managerial and societal challenges. His recent work examines the operational and societal implications of AI and algorithm-enabled decision support systems, focusing on how these technologies shape worker decision-making, labor markets, consumers, and retail and service operations. A core part of Mitrofanov's research examines information disclosure, digital nudges, revenue management, and consumer choice modeling, where he combines data analytics with mathematical modeling to help firms make effective and scalable operational decisions. Much of Mitrofanov's work is conducted in collaboration with industry partners such as online grocery delivery platforms, ride-hailing services, peer-to-peer platforms, fashion retailers, and education technology platforms, where he designs field experiments, analyzes large-scale data, and develops actionable solutions. His research has appeared in publications such as Management Science, Operations Research, Manufacturing & Service Operations Management, and Harvard Business Review, and has been recognized with several prestigious academic awards from MSOM, INFORMS JFIG, Behavioral Operations Management, and Service Science.
